My friend Lloyd, whom I have known since the early 1990s picked me up at the Starbucks in Roxas Boulevard and we made our way to Rizal Park around a kilometer away.
It was great to visit the shrine of Jose Rizal. As you may have known, Jose Rizal did spend some time in my country, England, in the late 19th century. He was also a well-traveled person having spent time in Germany, France, and other parts of the continent.
Lloyd and I were there just briefly. I wish though that in my next visit, I could spend more time and also visit Fort Santiago where Rizal was detained prior to his execution.
God bless the Philippines and her people. Mabuhay tayong lahat!
